What is Social Sewing?
Social sewing is a very informal sewing group that we have started, based in Melbourne. We are currently meeting about once a month at GJs Discount Fabrics, in Brunswick. We get together, do some sewing and have a natter while we sew.
Can I come?
Of course! It's open invitation to anybody that wants to join us to sew! Just please let me know if you are planning on coming so I have a vague idea of numbers (so that I can make sure GJs know about how many people to expect).
When are you meeting?
The dates we have planned for 2013 so far are:
Saturday 19th JanuarySaturday 23rd FebruarySaturday 16th MarchSaturday 20th April- Saturday 18th May
- Saturday 22nd June
- Saturday 20th July (hosted by Sarah)
- Saturday 17th August
- Saturday 21st September
- Saturday 19th October
- Saturday 16th November
- Saturday 14th December
About 9am - 4pm - Those are GJs opening hours, and you can come along for as much or as little of that as you like.
Where is it?
It's in the big workroom above the shop GJs Discount Fabrics in Brunswick. The room has lots of natural light, plenty of space and BIG tables.
What should I bring?
Bring along whatever you want to work on. There are irons and ironing boards, cutting mats, and some power boards/extensions but you need to bring your own machine and all the other bits and bobs you need to sew.
Does it cost anything?
Yes, it costs $10, paid straight to GJs for the use of the room.
Any more questions? Please just ask!
Great, Rachel. I'll put the dates in my diary, and hope to get there. Maybe, also mention that the upstairs work-room is only accessible by stairs. (Not usually a problem, unless one has a recent leg injury...ahem!).
ReplyDeleteHi! I've heard about the sewing social but never knew the dates ... until now! I would love to come along all day on the 19th Jan and will probably only make it from 12:30pm on the other days. Looking forward to meeting you all :)
